Outlook February update troubles

If you are using Microsoft Outlook 2016 and installed the February update, you may be in for a couple surprises…

Update: The Office update in March fixed the issues discussed below. If the update does not install automatically, then you can force the update by opening Outlook, and the go to File / Office Account.

Two very inconvenient bugs have come to light:

  1. If you are using the option to leave a copy of your messages on the server (very useful if your are reading your email on multiple devices), then you may find that Outlook does the opposite and deletes your messages from the server immediately after downloading.
  2. If you are not using the option to leave a copy of your messages on the server, then you may find that the same messages are downloaded over and over, creating duplicates.

The nice people at HowTo-Outlook has created nice how-to for dealing with this issue. Personally, I opted to uninstall the February update and go back to the previous version.

Ironically the February updated added a BLACK theme option. Why then am I feeling BLUE?
