Server WWW-28 was offline for emergency maintenance today between 12:00 and 14:30 GMT.
The server monitoring system rebooted the server around 12:00 after it was unable to recover the Apache web service. On rebooting, the system required a file system check, which is a lengthy process. This completed successfully about two hours later.
We regret the inconvenience this incident may have caused. We are doing a post mortem to establish what went wrong and prevent a re-occurrence.
